San Quentin Rehabilitation Center completed the CDCR-wide switch from ViaPath to Securus (phones May 26 2026, tablets May 27–29 2026). Unused ViaPath family balances can be refunded through the ViaPath call center; the incarcerated person’s balance refunds to their trust account automatically. Long Distance Visits — worth knowing

!If you live out of state or 250+ miles away, San Quentin offers a Long Distance Visit program: three consecutive days of visiting, bookable once per month. It requires an email request 30 days in advance — it is NOT booked through VSA. Few families know this exists.

Dress code — stricter than most

On top of statewide rules: no spandex, leggings, yoga pants, biker shorts, body-con dresses, or leather pants. A shirt is required under all hoodies, sweatshirts, and jackets — and no layered clothing. Children under 36 inches tall are exempt from color and material rules.
